Before a crowd of supports Stier announces his plans for the future of Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA – Candidate for City Council at Large Marc Stier officially announced, at the Brossman Center in Lutheran Theological Seminary, what many already knew for months: Marc is running for City Council at Large.
“So we have to come together as one city,” says Marc. “We have to stop the politics of fear from dividing us. But we can only do that if we create a politics of hope, that is, if we believe that things can really change in the city, that we can find innovative public policies that will benefit everyone.”
Three colleagues who Marc worked with in different campaigns introduced him. Ken Weinstein, local businessman, spoke about the need for more progressive candidates who stand for smart policies for change. Next, Gloria Gilman, President of Neighborhood Networks, informed the crowd about Marc’s recent endorsement by their group. Marc is the only at large candidate to receive the Neighborhood Networks endorsement. Finally, Vivienne Crawford, President of the African American Coalition, spoke about Marc’s community involvement throughout Philadelphia.
Stier talked about a theme that has become the hallmark of his campaign: politics in Philadelphia is broken and needs to be replaced with a politics of hope. The issues of crime, education, and economic development continue to plague this city, as based on a central theme of justice and how politics refuses to do the dirty work to address these issues.
Marc Stier has already received the endorsement from Philadelphia NOW and Neighborhoods Networks.
