Marc Stier Earns Endorsements from AFSCME District Council 47 and Transport Workers Union
Philadelphia, PA: Marc Stier, Democratic candidate for City Council at Large, received notice that both the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) DC 47 and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 234 will be endorsing him in the May primary. Stier has worked extensively with DC 47 on the Raise the Minimum Wage Coalition and Philadelphia Campaign for Housing Justice and with both DC 47 and the TWU on the Pennsylvania Transit Coalition.
Reacting to news of the endorsements, Stier said, “I’m extremely pleased that my friends in AFSCME and TWU have recognized my work on the issues that are important to them and to the whole city. Their endorsement recognizes all the work we have done together to create a community-labor progressive partnership. And it will be a big help for me on Election Day.”
Stier’s work in the last decade building a politics of hope made him an obvious choice for these endorsements.
